Srinagar, 04 May (KNO): The three-day cricket coaching camp organised by Zephyr Cricket Academy concluded on today, marking an impactful step in nurturing emerging cricket talent across Jammu & Kashmir. The programme ended on a vibrant note with a lively “Fun & Fair” session celebrating learning, enthusiasm and sporting spirit. In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a spokesperson said the camp drew an overwhelming response, with over 500 young cricketers participating across three days. Players were divided into Under-16 and Under-23 categories, enabling structured, age-specific coaching focused on technical skills, tactical awareness and physical conditioning. The concluding day featured an interactive one-to-one question-and-answer session, where participants engaged directly with experienced coaches, discussing technique, fitness, match temperament, and career pathways. The depth of questions reflected growing awareness and seriousness among young cricketers. Former Ranji Trophy captain and BCCI Level-2 certified coach Mr. Samiullah Beigh praised the participants, stating: “The level of awareness and the quality of questions from these young cricketers truly stood out. It reflects their passion and understanding of the modern game.” Veteran former first-class cricketer, Omar Aalam added: “The dedication shown by youngsters travelling from far-flung areas, often accompanied by their parents, highlights the growing cricket culture and commitment in Jammu & Kashmir.” The academy management frthy expressed satisfaction over the camp’s success and reiterated its commitment to grassroots development. It also announced a series of upcoming short-term camps ahead of the launch of the Zephyr Cricket High Performance Centre, scheduled for August 2026. The event concluded with the distribution of around 220 certificates to standout performers in recognition of their discipline, effort and talent. The management extended gratitude to all participants, coaches, parents, and volunteers for making the camp a success. “Special appreciation was also conveyed to co-sponsors Axis Bank, Havells, Zaffron, Fast Beetle and Cafe Morels, whose support played a key role in the successful execution of the initiative for grassroots cricket development in Kashmir.”—(KNO)
